The Western New York Chapter of the American Meteorological Society sponsors the third of its spring 2016 seminar presentations, "Community Power, Environmental Justice and Public Health in Western New York," by Rebecca Newberry, executive director of the Clean Air Coalition.
Newberry joined the staff at Clean Air in 2011 and brings a wealth of organizing and nonprofit management experience to the organization. During her time at Clean Air, Newberry has led successful campaigns including work supporting residents who live near the Amigone Crematory, Tonawanda Coke, and guiding the launch of the Just Transition campaign to address the uncertain future of the Huntley Coal site in the Town of Tonawanda. Newberry currently serves on the Board of the Western New York Council for Occupational Safety and Health (WNYCOSH) and for a decade has been actively involved in a series of economic and social justice campaigns.
