The Economics and Finance Department invites faculty and students to the seminar on ''Public Finance and Institutional Economic Thought,'' presented by Dr. Hiroyuki Mori, a professor at Ritsumeikan University, Japan, and a visiting professor at Cornell University.
Professor Mori is a public finance researcher who has been interested in public works and intergovernmental fiscal relations. His book Public Works Reforms (2008) reflects his early concern with Japan’s infrastructure issues from regional socio-economic perspectives. This book was prized from an academic society Japan Association of Local Public Finance in 2009. He has energetically published articles in public finance fields. He has been recently engaged in asbestos disaster problems concerning both labor and environmental issues. He is a co-editor of Asbestos Disaster: Lessons from Japan's Experience (2011), the first book on Japan’s asbestos problems in English. He has served for the board of directors in academic societies in Japan.
