Lilana Fernández Mollinedo, professor of history at the University of Havana, Cuba, will discuss the history and current state of conflict between the United States and Cuba. Against this historical background, she will then discuss the attempts by President Obama to “normalize” relations between the U.S. and Cuba and the seeming return to heightened tensions between the U.S. and Cuba under the Trump administration. A question-and-answer period will follow the lecture. This event is free and open to the public.
